My Story

My name is Francesco. But since when I was born, everybody started to call me "Franco". I've never really known why... anyway, this is now my little "nickname".

I was born in 1963 in Udine, little and quiet (oh, soooo quiet!) town in north-east Italy, F.V.G. I like it, I'm also a quiet person and like quiet life. I've one sister (Silva), two parents (Achille e Graziella) and a very good old friend (Paolo).

I studied at Udine, and then I started to work (in 1986) at University of Udine, Computer Center. I'm (still) here. I've been OpenVMS system manager (over 18 years... then my bosses forced me to close the most secure system I've ever seen...). I also manage the University Web Server. I give courses (expecially, but not only, about Internet and Web). I had experiences developing Cd-Rom, and also as a programmer (Pascal, DCL, ASP, Perl, PHP...).

I worked without rest for a lot of years... then (on march 1997) I met Valérie, a lovely girl from Belgium. I met her on Internet! On september 1997, she was here living with me. On december 1997, we married. And on september 1998, we had a lovely daughter, Elisa!

On december 2000 we moved to a new home in Tricesimo, very little town on north of Udine.

What I like?

I like seeing movies at Cinema. But I have no more time to go... too bad eh?

Music. Italian authors of '70 (the "classic": Guccini, De Gregori, Venditti...) as well as pop and progressive-rock music of '70. The Genesis in my opinion were the best! I also loved Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull... and also Gli Squallor eheh... if somebody knows them, let me know! :-) I also like classic/symphonyc music. I also play a little bit; keyboards. I have a Yamaha PSR500. I am not a music genius... I simply enjoy.

Science Fiction. Maybe it wouldn't be "serious"... but I eated hundreds of S.F. books. And movies.

Sport. I'm not a great lover of sports. I am a fan (not fan-atique) of Udinese. Time ago I also went to stadium but now... have no more time.. and it's too expensive!! Of course I also follow the Italian national team.

Foods and restaurant. It a pleasure of life! :-) I like to eat well and sometime.. when my finances allow... having a dinner in some good restaurant. I like Pizza and... of course Coffee. Italian coffee please :-)

Other pleasures? Ehm we are all adults... well...ok... doesn't matter.
